The essentials for safe navigation

Before casting off, let's remember a few essential points:

  • Minimum coastal license required: To pilot a pleasure boat of more than 6 horsepower, a coastal license is essential. It will allow you to sail up to 6 nautical miles from shelter.

  • VHF and territorial waters: The VHF on board can only be used in French territorial waters. To navigate in Spain, the Restricted Radiotelephonist Certificate (CRR) is required.

  • Safety first: Sailing without a license is strictly prohibited and punishable by a fine of €1,500. Entrust the controls only to a boat license holder, which means that if you have reserved equipment such as a towed buoy or a wakeboard, the captain will not be able to do water sports if he is the only license on board of the boat.

A recommended unmissable itinerary: a discovery of the Basque Coast

To fully enjoy your day at sea, we offer you an itinerary that will allow you to discover the most beautiful landscapes of the Basque Coast:

  1. Bayonne-Anglet and the Chambre d’Amour: Let yourself be seduced by the famous Chambre d’Amour, an emblematic rock of the coast.

  2. Biarritz : Continue your journey towards Biarritz, the pearl of the Basque Country. Discover the Grande Plage, the Rock of the Virgin and the legendary Villa Belza.

  3. Bidart and Guéthary : Enjoy the long beaches of Bidart and the famous surf spot of Parlementia in Guéthary.

  4. Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Hendaye : End your journey with Saint-Jean-de-Luz, famous for its fishing port, and Hendaye, with its two emblematic twins.
